Introducing Hannah Bowman
Persian > English Translator
Bio
I have long had a fascination with language, which led to me completing a Bachelor of Languages degree at the Australian National University in 2014, where I majored in Persian and Arabic. During my studies, I also lived in Iran for several months. I formed a deep and lifelong connection with the Persian language and culture during this time.
I also have a background in social work, having completed a Master of Social Work degree from Deakin University in 2018. I worked as a case manager for the Australian Red Cross and the WA Department of Child Protection, where I supported and counselled individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and with complex needs, including newly arrived refugees.
As a freelance translator, I provide high-quality Persian to English translation services for both direct clients and agencies. I am experienced in translating legal and medical documents, marketing material and corporate communications, subtitling and transcribing audiovisual material, as well as proofreading and editing academic and professional writing. I have a keen interest in the areas of health, immigration, politics, history, linguistics, sociology, science and technology, film, music and literature.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Translation degree from RMIT University, which I will complete in 2026. I am a member of the Australian Association of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) and the Australian Association of Literary Translators (AALITRA).
